This on is turn made me think about the things we had as children and how very few kids nowadays will consider them worthy to even look at. It is true that for 80s arcade games, Pong itself was a big thing - the first ever thing to be done virtually, but it was far in the 60s and what I am really fond of are the memories of actually going to an arcade in order to play games. Real arcade with a change machine only apart from the stand alone, full sized games with their handles and buttons, such as Asteroids, and Donkey Kong, Pac Man and Mr. Pac Man.

As there was nowhere else to go after school actually, because apart from the malls that e didn't like t hang into, the 80s arcades games were the only places for under 21-year-olds. And we devoted both ourselves and our free time to spending every last quarter there.

There was one 80s arcade game that I liked much more than the others. It was called Quix and I never managed to find a copy of it again, neither in the internet, nor on a CD-R. The task was to part off pieces of a huge rectangle that was on the screen, using a stylus controlled by the joystick, avoiding the electrical sparks/fuses moving around, because in case they get to you, your score returns to zero and you start from the beginning. It was just a simple game or people who were not fond of all the killing and shooting and in was much easier to move in the limited 2D space.

But in fact I still have a place in my heart for the times (a few months only) that I was totally addicted to the great Space Invaders. Boy, the more I think about it the more I realize just how much I loved those 80s arcade games.

Regardless of whether the events are related, AT&T has taken steps to try and address the issue. They added that they expected their subcontractors to conduct random safety checks at all construction sites to ensure that the safety measures are being enforced.

Having come from a background of playing table top Dungeons and Dragons, I was very excited when I learned of a Dungeons and Dragons PSP version. Could this finally the Dungeons & Dragons conversion we have been waiting for all these years. Well, the short answer is YES and NO. Confused? Well, let me explain.

This of course isn't the first time Dungeons & Dragons has made its transition to electronic form, we had Advanced Dungeon's and Dragons - Cloudy Mountain way back in 1982 for the Intellivision, Baldur's Gate for consoles formats, Neverwinter Nights for the PC and more recently, the mammoth Dungeon and Dragons online. So, I wondered, how would this differ to the rest?

Some of the Dungeons and Dragons video games throughout its history have been great but hasn't had much in common with the table top version other than the name itself. Baldur's gate for example was great but was mostly a hack and slash and somehow lost some of the original feel.

Whether you enjoy Dungeons & Dragons Tactics for the PSP will depend on your view point. It has received some criticism such as the difficulty of sorting through the items you find or obtain after a battle. Granted, the interface is a bit fiddly but back in the table top days, sorting through the booty was part of the fun!

The battle is the classic turn based system which follows the D&D 3.5 rules quite closely, which is quite different to some of the modern real time battles that RPGs are starting to favour. For this reason and others, this game is one of the closest incarnations to the original role-playing game.

You will pleased to know that all the classic races can be selected for your campaigns, choosing a good balance of Clerics, humans, half-orcs should assure a good degree of success. The alignment of each character is present but it can be very difficult to stick with this throughout the game depending on the unfolding events.

If I had to point out the main problem with the game, that would be the camera angle. Why do so many games have trouble getting this right? It's not a huge problem here but sometimes it can be difficult to see what is happening up ahead, unless this was a deliberate feature? Also, the camera can zoom in and out quite erratically.

Visually, the graphics aren't stunning but maybe this is a throw back to the original role-playing game...where there weren't ANY graphics, it was all visualised in your head! The visuals that are there are quite atmospheric due to the seedy lighting which can only add to a better experience.

This may not be the best ever RPG but if you have come from a turn based Final Fantasy background or more importantly, a D&D table top background, then this Dungeons & Dragons PSP game - D&D Tactics is well worth a look.

So you and your weird friends are about to sit down, eat some pizza, shuffle some papers, roll some dice, and get deep into the bowels of an unexplored and monster-filled dungeon, on the site of the ruined tower of a historic evil arch-mage.

I'm sure you notice the disparity there. While you are all comfortable leaning over the coffee table looking at your character sheets and sitting on a comfy couch, your alter-egos are slogging through the feces of years of orc travel, seeking a few gold pieces and a magic sword or two. Quite simply, you aren't going to be able to instill fear into your players hearts...or are you?

Setting the mood in a movie or play involves a lot of tricks, and many of those are applicable to a role-playing environment. Lighting, sound, dialog and movement are your keys to lock the attention of your players into your RPG world, and none of this needs to be complex in order to accomplish a bare level of what you seek.

First, are you well lit? In a dungeon? No, you can't be. Certainly you need enough light to be able to see the numbers on the dice, and to read and write on the character sheets, but not much more. In fact, when you are playing with the lighting you might even do things like not let people see the map unless the lights are turned all the way off and they just have a candle to read by (then take away the map before the electric lights come back on). One of the greatest ways to accomplish this is to use some of the remote-controlled lights and home automation tools available nowadays. Hiding behind your DMs screen, a slow drop in the lights via a remote-controlled dimmer switch can subtly shift the mood without expectation. An immediate turn-off of the lights timed with a sound effect at the right moment can put them into an immediate fear for their character's safety. The use of candles for lighting (perhaps one in front of each player, to simulate their torches, replaced with a flashlight for those with magic ability) can help give a real "trudging through the dungeon" feel.

When your lighting is in place and likely to make them feel more in-character, playing with sounds can put them into shock. Just the drip-drip-drip of water can create anticipation and shivers, as they start to wonder if it's water dripping or the footsteps of something coming up from behind them. Punctuated by distant screams, the players will definitely start to worry about what they are getting into. If you've got a laptop with speakers, there are numerous sound effects CDs available for sale on the internet to accomplish this, or you can purchase programs specifically for playing such sound effects. There should always be some level of noise going on, except when there is intentional silence. The lack of sound is one of the most important tools you can have...when all the other sounds stop, your players will stop and wonder what's about to happen. Don't abuse this tool though. It should be reserved for the really horrible events about to occur. Watch a movie that has a really good soundtrack that's appropriate to the scenario you are running. The Lord of the Rings movies by Peter Jackson won awards for their sound, and there is a good reason. Ignore, for the moment the actual songs in the movie and pay attention to the bursts of audio and moments of silence. This is what you want to achieve.

Dialog can be extremely important in setting the mood of conversations and confrontations, but you don't have to be a master of impersonation to accomplish this. When the players are interrogating a gnoll, imagine what his speak sounds like with a mouthful of teeth and a snout with a long floppy tongue. He's going to slur and spit and any hard 'g' sounds will be following with an 'rrr'. "I will g(rrr)ive you nosthing, do-g(rrr)ooders!", says that gnoll. Simple. You don't have to be consistent or complete to get your point across.

If the gnoll in the above example is waving his arms about as he speaks, don't say that he's waving his arms about as he speaks...wave your arms about! If someone the players are watching is skulking as he creeps along a wall, hunch your shoulders and speak in hushed tones, moving your head up and down in the rhythm of that creeping skulker's walk. You'll get a lot across that otherwise is unexplainable.

This all may sounds complicated, but really it's not. Begin with one aspect (movement and dialog is easiest) and see how appreciated and effective they are. It won't be long before a simple forgettable game session becomes something your players tell stories about years later. Have fun!

Grand theft auto is finally here for all platforms. This is Rockstar's first game in three years and their first GTA game for the next gen consoles. Although, saturated with controversy, GTA has embraced the blight to make over 500 million dollars in revenue its first week released. Grand theft auto is quickly becoming one of the greatest launches in game history. For people new to the game, GTA is a large sandbox world where you can do anything or go anywhere. Most of the game play is centered on meeting characters and doing missions but, in a sandbox world the game play experience doesn't stop there. Rock star comes out of the gate with guns ablaze by offering solid game play, deep characters, and multiplayer (A first for the series).

How do you know you playing a Rock star game? The easy answer to that question can be found in the game play and story telling. Rock star always makes storytelling its number one priority to engross the player into its playground. I can't tell you how many times I have lost hours upon hours roaming to world of GTA. In this installment you play Niko Bellic, an eastern European immigrant, newly arrived at the harbor of Liberty city. He comes to America seeking fame and fortune promised to him by his cousin Roman. Niko is a very likable guy. He is portrayed as a man who knows what he wants and knows how to get it. Although, he is not accustomed to life in America he soon finds people to help him assimilate into American culture. Niko meets a lot of characters traveling trough Liberty City. These characters bring about new mission, new points of interest and new items. The new characters are also, well written with excellent dialogue that portray a since of urgency and power. The story helps set the scene but, without top notch game play the game will fall flat.

The game play in this installment of the Grand theft auto series has been greatly upgraded and improved. First thing Rockstar upgraded is the targeting system. This was the single worst feature in all the GTA games up until this game. Rock star learned from there previous mistakes and gave the fans what they wanted. The targeting system is almost perfect. It plays almost like a third person shooter with free look mode. Also, you can lock on with the left trigger and fire with the right trigger. This gives you dead on accuracy and makes dispatching enemies easy and fun. They also, added the duck and cover system. It feels a lot like playing Gears of War which focused to lot on the duck and cover system. Rock star also worked on the car driving physics. Every car in liberty city has its own driving style and braking system. Not all the car drives as well as you think they should. Does liberty city have a good brake shop? The short answer is no. Lots of times I think I had enough room to stop, only to plow in to oncoming traffic. The motorcycle is the worst about stopping distance. I think in the next expansion rock star should add a brake shop. With that being said, the game play is still excellent and a great improvement from the last game. Multiplayer is by far the most exciting upgrade this year.

Rock star finally join the land of multiplayer games. By adding multiplayer the replay value has increased by hundreds of hours. With 16 different game types ranging from simple death match, cops and crooks style game, and co-op. Cops and crooks is a refreshing new game type. You take the role of either a cop or crook. This is predetermined at the start of the match. If you are the crook you and your team have to make it to the destination before the cops caught you or kill you. In all of these modes you have a lot of the city at your disposal. You take the necessary measures to ensure victory by steal cars, pick up new guns and armor. If you have friends you can set up a room called party mode. In party mode you can invite friends to join your game lobby. These friends will stay partied up in every team game type you play. You can also, just run around liberty city and cause mayhem. These just scratches the surface of what Grand theft auto has to offer.

Grand theft auto is an excellent game. The replay value of this gem will keep us entertained well into the summer. For Xbox 360 users, Rock star has promised bonus content for this platform by the end of the year. We could be playing this game well into next year. I'm in love with my Xbox, I play it all the time and theres nothing better than a hardcore session of Halo 4 to beat the stresses of everyday life. But the Xbox seems to be getting a bit of bad press lately and this is mainly due to xbox 360 problems that keep occurring. I have been checking some stats which state that almost one in three xbox 360 will develop some kind of problem during its life. That a lot of xbox 360 problems to deal with.

So what are these xbox 360 problems and how do you best deal with them? Well first of all what are they. Well they come in various forms but the main viable sign your xbox 360 has a problem is the ring of lights on the front of the console. This set of four lights is usually green but when you get a problem with your xbox all or any number of the lights go red (infectionately name the red ring of death for obvious reasons).

Some of these xbox red light problems can be cured by simply turning the console off and then back on again (a reboot) or allowing the console to cool down. a lot of the problems are caused by over heating which in turn causes bad solder connections. If the reboot or cool down period doesn't fix your xbox you may have a more serious hardware problem.

Is your xbox under warranty? If so you can send it off to Microsoft for it to be repaired, as long as you have the original receipt in your name and it is within the warranty period (now three years). One problem with this approach is the amount of time you loose your xbox for. Some people are reporting up to three months turn around. Not good if like me you like to get a few hours game play a day. my friend was unfortunate enough to send his xbox to Microsoft for repair, it was only away for 8 weeks so not too bad but he had only had it back two months and it had the same problem. By the way if you are wondering, if your out of warranty it is the best part of $150 to get repaired by Microsoft.

Do you have any other options? well you could always repair it yourself. Not as scary as you might think and something a lot of people are doing now whether they are in warranty or not. The repair can be done in under a couple of hours so you will be back playing games the same day. If your xbox is out of warranty you obviously save yourself the repair costs and the wait.

When leveling in World of Warcraft, the relentless tedium of grinding and killing the same monsters over and over again is a complete waste of time, and not to mention a threat to your sanity. If you really want to spend your time grinding go play an old school RPG like Dragon Quest or Final Fantasy VI. Questing is by far the superior choice for leveling quickly. Completing quests will provide you with the most experience per time spent playing.

You will always want to focus on slaying the enemies that appear yellow to you as you are traveling from one quest to the next. It is alright to kill the ones that appear green to you but be sure that they are only three to four levels below your current level.

While power leveling, you will be far better off soloing World of Warcraft than you will wasting your time searching for groups to go questing with. Things will go more quickly for you if you eliminate this wasted time. This way there is no need to rely upon other players time schedules or waste time worrying about the needs of other WoW players.

Finally, always make an effort to log out in one of the major cities or an Inn when you are ready to leave the World of Warcraft realm and return to the real world.

If you follow these simple tips, you will definitely have a speed leveling advantage over your fellow WoW players. You will find yourself leveling quickly with a much shorter amount of your in game time spent in World of Warcraft struggling to do so.

Biodiesel and Technology have for a long time seemed destined to avoid each other. Methods that have been in use for many years have prevailed whilst funding for newer technology has been slow in coming through. However recent events have led to a number of important breakthroughs which are having a positive effect on the manufacture of Biodiesel?

Until recently the only method of producing Biodiesel was by dissolving a catalyst in alcohol, a typical catalyst is sodium hydroxide and then mixing this with some type of vegetable oil such as rapeseed oil or waste vegetable oil from restaurants and factories. After being mixed for 2 hours the resulting liquid is allowed to stand for up to 24 hours.

During this time a chemical reaction takes place which creates Biodiesel and glycerin. The glycerin can be reprocessed or used for other products. All this is now starting to change. With new sources of oil and new processes being developed

Automobile maintenance got too complex for most do-it-yourselfers. The same has been happening with some home repairs. With home electrical, it just got trickier -- with the requirement of "arc-fault protection" for most areas of the house.

An arc-fault circuit interrupter (AFCI) is a special circuit breaker in your electrical panel designed to sense arcing (sparking) that might present a fire hazard.

These have been required for bedroom areas of homes built since 2002. Beginning in 2008 they are also required to cover most other areas -- except those that must already have ground-fault (GFCI) protection. Because AFCI devices have some ground-fault sensing also built into them, it looks like the AFCI is the wave of the future in home electrical safety technology, perhaps replacing GFCI devices as well as regular breakers.

Should you welcome this as a good safety net, or do you wonder if it is part of a sticky spider web, brought to you by manufacturers, insurance companies, and regulatory engineers? I won't answer that for you or try to give statistics. What I will do here is point out what a homeowner is up against if one of these new breakers should happen to trip off.

Standard old fuses and circuit breakers would blow or trip for three possible causes.

Two of these were common and familiar to most people:

1. Either electrical usage was excessive (an overload)...

2. Or current was trying to get way out of control from wires faulting (a "short").

Many homeowners could handle the troubleshooting needed to solve these conditions. (The third problem has to do with poor connections right at the fuse or breaker, which overheat it and make it blow when it wouldn't otherwise.)

An arc-fault breaker will trip for any of these same problems, but in addition it will trip for some ground-faults and for arc-faults.

If an AFCI trips, how will you know what sort of cause you are looking for? Will you have to become more dependent on professionals from the industries that dreamed these things up?

In general and in a nutshell:

*An overload (or an overheating breaker) will correspond to heavier usage;

*A short or ground-fault will tend to continue to trip the AFCI very soon after you reset it;

*An arc-fault will tend not to repeat the tripping soon, since the conditions for an arc to get going do not often persist after the arc is stopped by the tripping.

If an arcing condition does exist somewhere on such an AFCI circuit, you may have to put up with the nuisance of the occasional tripping, till it goes away or is solved. But do not get freaked, as if something is going to start a fire.

That is the whole point of these AFCIs -- no such fire will have a chance to start.

And that is the point of many products in our life today -- after hazards have been publicized enough, we will comfort ourselves by buying these things that seem to foolproof life. I hope we are not fools in the process.
